About Your Teacher

 Email:  amber.mcclendon@fwisd.org

Hi!  My name is Ms. Bailey and I am your art teacher.  This is my fifth year at Sweet Lily B. and I love it here!  My goal is for you to love art and make it a part of your life.  This year we are focusing on different artists and creating works based on the Elements of Art and Principles of Design.

Art is a special way of seeing the world-----keep it happy!

Share the Warmth

Why are the trees at Lily B. wearing sweaters? Created in Ms. Bailey's art class, the Tree Sweaters were made to promote "Share the Warmth". Families and students are donating warm clothing to their community.  Don't forget to bring your warm mittens, scarves, coats, etc. to school after the break. ***Update! Before the break a large load of warm clothing was donated to a women and childrens shelter in Fort Worth.  Thank you sooo much!  A second load of clothing will be taken after we return to school.

Elements of Art

Line---different tools make different kinds of lines.

Shape---shapes come in many types and sizes.

Color---every color can be bright, dull, dark, or light---I love color!

Value---refers to dark and light in painting or drawing.

Form---is three dimensional, and takes up space.

Texture---is how a surface of something feels or looks.

Space---exists around us.  We use illusions to make space in art.

Principles of Design

Balance---is the comfortable arrangement of things in art.

Contrast---is the difference between elements in an artwork.

Emphasis---is the creation of a focal area in a work of art.

Movement---is how we get around in a work of art.

Pattern---decorates suraces with  planned, repeated units.

Rhythm---is the repetition of shapes, lines, and forms.

Unity---means that all is in harmony. Variety adds interest.
